This is a moderately paced class which includes pranayama (breathing/energy practices), asana (postures), and yoga nidra (relaxation).
The instructor is particularly interested in how one's yoga practice becomes a metaphor for the rest of one's life.
She encourages each student to work at her/his own pace, making changes as necessary, always practicing ahimsa.
Marya has been practicing yoga since 1969, teaching yoga since 1981.
Her first teacher was Swami Satchidananda, though she has studied many different styles over the years, and incorporates teachings from many wonderful teachers, to whom she offers great gratitude. IYTT and RYT 500

Dragon's Egg Summer Narrative Project: Ramayana
Performance Dragon's Egg June 13, 4pm
Performance at Hygienic Gallery June 14
This project involves artists - dancers, actors, puppeteers, musicians, monologuists - from this area, and from NYC, Boston, Vermont, Hartford, RI. There will be professionals and fledglings, children and elders, professors and demons, monkeys and gods. This is an informal/formal gathering of artists who have prepared a "riff" on the Ramayana for the assemblage piece that we shall present to you with delight on June 13 at 4 pm. Appropriate for all ages. By Donation.
The Ramayana is one of the two great Indian epics, the other being the Mahabharata. The Ramayana tells about life in India around 1000 BCE and offers models in dharma. The hero, Rama, lived his whole life by the rules of dharma; in fact, that was why Indian consider him heroic. When Rama was a young boy, he was the perfect son. Later he was an ideal husband to his faithful wife, Sita, and a responsible ruler of Aydohya. "Be as Rama," young Indians have been taught for 2,000 years; "Be as Sita."
Solstice Labyrinth Walk March 21
You are invited to walk the labyrinth after the sun sets to celebrate the Summer Solstice
8-9:30 PM, Sunday, June 14, 2009
Questions??? Call Bernadette 860-443-4163
Pause at the balance point, and then continue your journey
A labyrinth is a sacred circular design found in various forms
throughout human history. Unlike a maze, which has dead ends and false
turns, a labyrinth is one continuous path that will eventually lead you
to the center of the circle. It is a powerful symbol of the life
journey we all make, full of unexpected twists and sudden changes in
direction. By walking this archetypal path, we can rediscover the
sacred potential in each of our daily steps.
