What's Nia? The Nia Technique is an expressive fitness and lifestyle practice. Moves are created to promote healing the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Nia is for all bodies, all ages, all sizes and moves "The Body's Way". "The Body's Way" is learning to make conscious movement choices that support and nurture your body exactly as it is today. Nia is your path to pleasure and joy.

A Typical Kimnetics Nia Class You open the door and are greeted warmly by Kim, your Nia instructor. You kick off your shoes and begin to let go of what came before. There's music in the background and though you may not know the others in the room, you know intuitively, you're among friends. People smile, say hello and you find your spot on the dance floor.

Kim will set a focus for the class. With this focus, you can direct your attention on a specific idea and gain the maximum benefit of the next hour and fifteen minutes. You'll warm up your heart, lungs and all the major joints. Then you're ready to really get moving-- fast, slow, with patterns, free form, kicking, punching, breathing, using imagery and noise to keep it interesting. In time, exhilarated, you'll begin to cool down. Slow, languid movements gradually bringing you to the earth where you can play using your body, the floor and gravity. Settling into stillness, you absorb all the effects these movements have had on your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Then, you return upright and take a few closing and cleansing breaths. You are now centered, grounded, well worked, energized and ready to step out into your next activity radiating joy and peace. This is Nia!

Kim Renee has studied various classical dance forms, Nia, body sculpting, belly dancing, hooping, tae kwon do, Pilates, yoga and meditation over her lifetime. She sought out her certifications six years ago and brought her unique style of keeping fit through fun to spas, studios, gyms, schools, and community centers to both children and adults. She has taught as an instructor, personal trainer, in corporate functions, and other special events since 2004. Each class is tailored to the student body for immediate success. All are rewarded with a sense of being empowered, centered, grounded, well worked and energized so they are equipped to step out into the next activity radiating joy and peace. Dances of Universal Peace

The Dances of Universal Peace are a powerful way to connect with others, to experience the true heart of many spiritual traditions and draw on them for inspiration. In many parts of the world, there are circles sharing this unique form of meditative yet celebratory body prayer. Through moving, chanting and singing together we create a sense of peace and unity - a sense of joyful oneness.

From the beginning of time, sacred movement, song and story have brought people together at times of seasonal ceremony and celebration, as part of everyday life, and during life passages, in daily renewal and meditation. The Dances of Universal Peace are part of this timeless tradition of sacred dance.

The dances are simple, direct, accessible and profound. Celebrate the diversity of the earth's spiritual traditions in harmony together as we explore and experience a compassionate connection to others and to nature.

No previous experience is necessary, all are welcome.

The Dances are led by Walia Sandra and Shems William Guillow, mentored leaders of the Dances of Universal Peace. They are joined by talented and enthusiastic musicians who provide live music for the dances. Based on the Unity of Religious Ideals, the dances draw on the spiritual traditions of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Native American and Goddess traditions.
