Summer Narrative Project Life is a Dream, by Calderon (1536)
The Seventh Annual Narrative Assemblage Event at the Dragon's Egg will take place at 4 pm on June 5, 2010. (Hygienic Egg will be on the 22nd, midday, in New London, and may include work from any of the past summer events.)
We shall be mounting the seventh annual midsummer Narrative Artistic Assemblage Event, to be performed on Saturday, June 5th, at 4 pm, at the Dragon's Egg. The first summer our text theme was Dante's Inferno, and we have since followed Faust, Orpheus and Eurydice, Alice, King Arthur, Rama and Sita, on their journeys. There has been theatre, dance, belly dancing, sculpture, dramatic reading, mask, a labyrinth, a walk through a dark woods, flying puppets, mirror pathways, dances seen through the rain, encounters with characters from the text, amazing work.
This summer the theme will be Calderon's Life is a Dream, the story of Segismundo, and an exploration of justice, dreams, and reality, and how slippery is each. The text is used as a source of inspiration in the creation of a piece, be it dance, music, theatre, puppetry, sculpture, poetry, other.
