The Dragon's Egg, the rehearsal space for the Mystic Paper Beasts, is to be used to encourage the creative development of new work, and the rehearsal of old, in dance and theatre; to foster young and old practitioners of these arts; to provide the space and time so that these may more easily be accomplished.
The Dragon's Egg is to serve as a rehearsal space for the Mystic Paper Beasts, and as a teaching space for related arts: (dance, theatre, yoga, mask, etc.) It will also be available for various other workshops of a theatrical and/or spiritual dimension, at the discretion of the board. For these latter, the Egg will retain a portion of any earned moneys gained in the use of the Egg.

"The Dragon's Egg inspires my work like no other space! It is, hands down, my favorite place to make dances. The environment both provokes and relaxes, a wonderful combination, and has given me and my company of dancers many wonderful creative experiences and joyful times.
The space whispers, crackles, resounds, giggles, creaks, sighs, murmurs, and rings with all kinds of curious energy -- and it soaks up good creative work, good music, and good celebrating like a sponge.
(my other choice was "like oil on a baby's bottom". You choose.)
(how's that for colorful?)
ALL TRUE."
-Clare Byrne, dancer and choreographer, NYC
"The Dragon's Egg is the most beautiful building i have ever seen for dance and yoga (and i have been to a lot of interesting buildings, including the Universal Hall at Findhorn) Apon entering, one immediately wants to dance!
The wooden floor as smooth as butter, the glass doors overlooking the south side of rural pasture, the Tibetan colors, altars, cushions, balconies, unique shower, and swings from the ceilings all make it the best place for dancing, and staying overnight with a group! Thanks to Dan and Marya for their vision,"
-Gwyn Peterdi, gypsy dancer, international leader of circle dancing
"A place of Peace and Harmony all in One, A safe space
for Fantastic Fun.
A place for feet to be warm in winter upon wooden
floors heated by pure love.
A holistic Love Nest
A place which inspires the body to move, the mind to
be still, and the heart to open."
-Dan Covan, drumming musician of dreams

"Take this class just for the floor -heated sprung
wood, with views of the tranquil woods! Yoga at the
Dragon's Egg is the best kept secret in southeastern
Connecticut."
-from Barbara Burke, yoga student
"The EGG, with its circular shape and glass surrounding, allows me to find my center and be part of the rest of the world all at the same time. Welcoming smiles and invigorating talk can always be found for those looking!"
-Andy Dousia
"All the amenities of being indoors and still feeling like you're out doors"
-Nancy Moffat
"I consistently find The Dragons Egg a haven for creative and healing energy flow. It is a wonderful resource in this area and one that is long overdue"
-Susan Morgan, The Mystic Dream Center
"In the Fall of 1999, I brought eight dancers to the Dragon's Egg for a two day video shoot of my newest choreography, "Plaid Time." Serendipitously, the brightly painted beams and architectural details of the studio were perfectly matched with the costumes of the dance. The unique configuration of the studio, with its incredible light and lush views out of the windows, afforded us a rare artistic experience, and I was able to frame the dance like a jewel in a new setting. The generosity of Dan and Marya was a bright beacon of welcome and support!"
-Ellen Cornfield
Artistic Director CORNFIELD DANCE

"It's a magical space, it's a sacred space, the energy in it reverberates."

The Dragon's Egg has a mind of its own. That mind has been of great influence and inspiration for the variety of projects I have explored in there. The Egg is a living, breathing example of brave architecture that embraces those who come there to develop their work. It epitomizes all that is generous about Marya and Dan. It is our responsibility as an artistic community to hold it tightly to let it breathe and to nurture it back.
-Donny Levit, playwright, director, mentor of new theatre spirits, directing professor, treasured colleague
"The Dragon's Egg, an exquisitely designed and
mystical space, provides an atmosphere that nourishes
the human potential in creativity and spirituality.
Hands up for Marya Ursin and Dan Potter for providing
the community with such a rich, potent, generator of
human bliss!"
-Amy Dechen Zezulka, Yoga Teacher and Coordinator of
Barefoot Boogie
"For me the Dragon's Egg is a sacred, healing space, a place of calm, energy and love. {Near her nest, the Dragon is a protector of all life, including the tiniest opal earring.}"
-Kathy Pitcher
"The Dragon's Egg is simply one of the most beautiful spaces for workshops or performances that I have ever used. The space is expansive and set in nature like a magnificent six sided diamond in fantastic ring. We were doing a special day long retreat at the Egg When a sudden snowstorm hit and we felt like we were in the middle of a giant snow globe. It is a fabulous place for spiritual work, movement processes, and rehearsal. We at Eagle's Quest Tai Chi Center recemmend it wholeheartedly. It is a gem."
-David Chandler, Tai Chi Master, Eaglesquest Tai Chi
"With the Dragon's Egg, Marya and Dan have created a space that is beyond
verbal description. It can be described in movement and sound, or
memory and dream. It is a place where judgement is suspended and
everything is possible. Truly, it is an artist's paradise. We are
blessed to have access to such an open, inviting and life affirming
site."
-Victoria Dryden, artist and dreamer
The light and energy in this sacred place move you and set you free...
